Instructors

Brenda Tustian Co-owner Instructor

At a very young age Brenda knew that she was destined to be an artist and has devoted her life to sharing her God-given talent with her friends and collectors.  Her kindergarten teacher noticed Brenda's talent, and with her encouragement and that of her parents, Brenda began her artistic journey.  She was trained in fine art at the University of Tennessee and then moved to Atlanta where she raised her family.

During the past thirty years Brenda has been a professional watercolor artist, showing her work in the eastern United States at fine art exhibitions and galleries.  She is best known for her Christmas art which has hung at the White House, the Pentagon and in the Georgia state capitol.  Her work has been featured in Watercolor Magic, Romantic Homes, Giftware News, etc... Brenda, her husband, Mike Kendrick, and daughter, Sheri Patten, are pleased to open the first Corkscrews and Canvas, pledging to make it a place of pure enjoyment and creative fulfillment. Brenda has taught numerous workshops and looks forward to lighting that creative fire in others.  It can change your life as it did hers.  What a joy!

Sheri Harris Co-owner Instructor

Working in the creative fields of graphic design, event planning, and merchandising/display, people know that under all that blonde hair is a really creative yet organized girl. Sheri is the daughter of artist Brenda Harris Tustian. Growing up in a creative home, Sheri developed a love and appreciation for art, fun, and color!
Sheri graduated from The College of Charleston with a degree in Business. She has worked and volunteered at her church for 12 years in Women's Ministry and Student Ministry.

Sheri is the proud mom of 3 adult kids. Her daughter is married and lives in Charleston, South Carolina, and her sons are graduates of The Citadel. Needless to say, weekend visits to Charleston are frequent!
Now that Sheri is an empty-nester perhaps she will throw caution to the wind and find herself painting on a hillside in Italy...her favorite place in the world!

Susie Tillis

Susie is a high energy artist with 20+ years of teaching and painting. She started teaching art in Jacksonville, FL in 1989. She has painted everything from tiny little petites (actually 1000 in 3 days, whew) to a 75 foot long mural. Susie has painted murals at numerous schools and loves getting the students to help her. She has taught art to kids as young as 5 (and lived to tell of it), so if they can do it, so can YOU!

Susie is married to her high school sweetheart and is the mother of 3. In her spare time Susie loves to run marathons and sell real estate. Since neither is a small feat, you can see the level of energy she will bring to a night of laughing, painting and...well, just plain FUN!

Kristen Larson
Retiring her imaginary spurs and pretend horse at age 9, Kristen knew she wasn’t cut out to be the cowboy she’d always dreamed.
God had written a different story of color, family, fun and a life in the art world.
Kristen studied at the Beck Center in Cleveland, Ohio, and went on to Cleveland State University where she filled her class load with studio art and flunked multiple math classes.
Kristen married in 1991.  She and her husband Bryan are raising two teenage boys and have lived in Marietta GA. since 1997.
In 2000, Kristen partnered her talents with long time friend Jill Alford. Their LLC company A&L Interiors is well known for murals, decorative painting and cabinet glazing.
A & L Interiors commercial work can be seen throughout Cobb County in schools, doctors offices and many churches. For a portfolio viewing of commercial and residential work please contact alinteriors@yahoo.com.
Kristen is also a fine arts teacher for children ages 6 through 12.

Jill Alford
After studying graphic and package design at UGA Jill found her way into…banking?
God has a sense of humor because it was there she met her husband of over 20 years. Jill and Jimmy Alford are raising two teenage boys in Marietta Ga. where they are involved at Burnt Hickory Baptist Church and enjoy serving in their community.
Jill loves to paint and adds a touch of whimsy to most all of her work. She is known for her commissioned canvases and much of her mural work can be seen in dozens of commercial and residential buildings throughout Georgia and the south east.
Jill partnered up with fellow uncorked artist, Kristen Larson, in 2000 where they began A&L Interiors. A&L is a successful full service mural, cabinet glazing and design, and faux finishing business.
Jill is excited to bring her “frilly jilly” style to Corkscrews and Canvas and feels blessed to be one of the first uncorked artists.
